About me

New Page Counselling Service is owned and run by Lynn Page, (PGDip in psychotherapeutic Counselling). I am an Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP), and I am bound by its codes of Ethics and Practice.

How I work

I have a dedicated therapy room in the back garden of my house, and I am able to keep this COVID Secure, so I am currently seeing clients in-person, as well as online (Zoom).

I practice integrative counselling, which means that I use several different modalities, including Person Centred Theory, Psychodynamic theory, Attachment theory, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment therapy), CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy), SFBT (Solution Focused Brief therapy), and others along the way, but if asked to describe how I work it would be to say that I am client led, and that the therapeutic relationship that we establish together is the most important aspect of therapy.

Together, in a non-judgmental relationship, we can work out the most productive way of helping you to move forward with your life, and make sense of your problems, and because I work in an integrative way, there are many tools in my counselling toolbox, that we can use to get to where you want to be.

I can also offer creative therapy, if you would like to try working creatively, whether it be drawing, painting or writing or in fact whatever form your creativity takes, it can be a way to uncover things that your unconscious mind has been hiding, and can help you to learn to live in the present, and not worry about what might happen in the future. It can help immensely if you suffer with anxiety.

Short or Long Term Therapy?

I provide both short term and open ended therapy. Short term therapy may be all you need if you are having problems with a particular issue, but if you have suffered with more complex issues, long term open ended therapy could be needed to help you move forward gently and safely, so that you can enjoy a meaningful future.

If you would like to see if we can work together I offer a heavily discounted initial session, and you are under no obligation to book a further session, if you do wish to continue working with me however, please see below under fees.

Weekday and early evening appointments are available.

I hold professional indemnity insurance and my work is supervised by a BACP approved supervisor.

Please see my website for further information.

Coaching

I also provide Therapeutic Coaching, if you feel stuck either in your personal life or your career, we can work on setting and achieving goals, that fit in with your values. Values are incredibly important, because they represent what you want your life to stand for, they give our life meaning, and provide us with satisfaction, both in a work situation and in our personal life. Values are a very personal thing, they are not something that other people can impose upon us, but something that gives our life direction. Sometimes we need help to work out what those values are, and then set goals in accordance with them which will help to make our lives rich and meaningful.

Coaching can help if you have not been in work for some time, for whatever reason, and wish to return to work but have no idea how to begin. If you are in a job where you feel stagnant and get little or no job satisfaction, if your confidence and self esteem are low, if you have reached a point in your life where you feel that you have no purpose, for instance if your children have grown up and moved away and you feel lost, or in any of those life transition stages, such as retirement, menopause, or redundancy.

Couples Therapy

At times relationships hit difficulties, I work with couples who want to try to save their relationship, and spending some time with a third party, who is not involved can help repair the cracks, or may make you realise that the best thing for everyone may be to part. If this is the case, then working with a therapist can help to bring about as good an ending as possible, especially if you have children, it can also help you to move forward with your life with confidence irrespective of the outcome.

Couples counselling is not limited to romantic relationships. Parent and child, siblings or friends who are having problems, can also benefit from relationship counselling.

Relationships don't have to have encountered problems for you to benefit from counselling, it can also be very useful for couples planning a life together, to ensure that you both know what to expect from each other and the relationship, and can better anticipate any problems that may arise in the future, so that you are able to ride the storms that inevitably will arise

I offer Supervision to other counsellors, using the seven-eyed model. Please see my supervisor profile or contact me for further details.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
