We are all unique as individuals with our own unique way of being. Life can present us with many challenges, which we will all deal with in our own unique way. However, there may be times in our lives when the way we once dealt with things or behaved become less successful or productive. There may be many reasons for this, some of which may not always be clear to us at the time.
I believe we all have the capacity to change our lives and ourselves for the better, but sometimes that involves a helping hand. Counselling can offer that helping hand. It can provide a safe, containing space for you to look at these issues in life, be it loss, trauma, transition, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, gender identity, work related issues and many more. Counselling is about a collaborative approach, where I as the counsellor work with you to help you explore your own issues and we work together to develop an understanding of what is going on for you and effect change and emotional growth.
I use a psychodynamic approach to counselling, which starts with the premise that we have an inner world that has a powerful influence on how we think, feel and behave and involves looking at the past. However, I am very much guided by you as an individual and what works best for you at the time.
I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work by their ethical framework. I receive regular supervision and as learning is an on-going process I develop and update my practice through continuing professional development. I have experience of working long-term with clients and using shorter time-limited interventions. All my work is face to face.
