About me

Hello, my name is Lynn. I am a qualified counsellor. I offer face-to-face counselling, telephone and online support during the day, evenings and weekends. If you or your loved one is having issues that are troubling, I can help.  I specialise in anxiety and depression so if you are experiencing these issues, with support and understanding we can work as a team to address them.  I draw on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred and psychodynamic theories to find the best fit for your needs.

I have worked with adults and young people in the charity sector and gained invaluable experience dealing with a broad range of mental health issues.  My approach is based on understanding your or your loved one's unique experience and together, finding solutions to improve mental health and wellbeing.   If a supportive, non-judgmental, caring and professional counsellor is needed, please contact me or try a free 20-minute telephone session.  Our conversation is confidential and will allow you to see if you can see me working well with you or your loved one.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked throughout the Borders and have experience of dealing with many mental health issues.  My qualifications and training are below.  I have personal experience of mental health problems as well and so I can really empathise with you.  I found counselling really helped me to understand myself more and to take better care of myself.  Self-care is very important, but it is often overlooked when we have busy lives and difficult things to manage.

Previous clients have described my support as "invaluable" and "empowering" and "very good to be heard and understood". If you have any questions, please get in touch with me and we can talk about them.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
