About me

Hi, I'm Lyn. I am a friendly and understanding, highly qualified counsellor working in Wilmslow town centre. If you are feeling worried about something in your life, emotional, physical, spiritual, social or relational, why not come along and have a chat. When you come to see me, we will be able to talk together about what is troubling you, in a comfortable, quiet and confidential environment. We can concentrate on your concerns, so you feel heard, respected and supported.

I am an Integrative Counsellor, so I can make use of a wide range of types of counselling, depending on your needs.

I am also a qualified Human Givens Therapist which is aimed at getting your emotional needs met and enabling you to learn appropriate skills to help you move forward with your life. I can help you look at your emotional needs and assist you in making use of your own innate and learned resources so you can start to lead a more positive life, one where you can look forward with purpose and satisfaction. Human Givens therapy is a short-term solution focused therapy and as such usually only takes a few sessions.

I have also trained in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) which is about accepting what is, while discovering what's important to you, and learning to lead a more meaningful life.

My practice is also informed by Existential ideas, which means I can help you come to terms with human issues we all face at some time such as life transition, sadness, depression, anxiety, loneliness, choice and responsibility.

By talking together you can start to make sense of your difficulties and to find a way through them. Then you can begin to experience life to the full, in a real and meaningful way.

MBACP ( Registered Member) - I am a member of, and work in accordance with,

MHGI (Registered Member).

Both the above organisations are PSI registered.

My first degree, BSc Hons Microbiology (Edinburgh University), enabled me to gain experience working in a medical environment alongside others in a similar field.

On my return to work, having had a career break to bring up children, I retrained in Management skills and worked for 13 years in a busy engineering consultancy. During that time I often found myself listening to people's problems and concerns.

For 30 years I have also worked in a pastoral capacity with people of a spiritual faith and none. During this time I have been available to people from all walks of life, and been able to listen patiently and empathically to their concerns.

In addition to my private practice, I work as a counsellor at a charitable Christian counselling service, Protem, in Manchester.

I have worked with a wide range of clients, aged 18 - 85 on issues such as anxiety, depression, addiction, anger management, bereavement, life transition and loss of direction.

I am registered with the ICO and possess an Enhanced DBS.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Human Givens Institute

The Human Givens Institute (HGI) is both a membership organisation and a professional body representing the interests of those in the caring and teaching professions who have an interest in or utilise the human givens approach. Counselling Directory register Registered Members (MHGI) and Fellow Members (FHGI), who will have completed the Post Graduate Practitioner's Assessment (Part III) and who are fully qualified to practise as a human givens therapist or counsellor. Further information

I have always had a love for people and a care for their concerns. Throughout life we all have times when everything is not as we would like. Sometimes telling someone else can help to clarify your thoughts and feelings, so you can move forward and begin to live your life to the full, with purpose and commitment.

If you would like to work in a conversational collaborative way, I will be pleased to hear from you.

You can contact me by text, phone or email, when I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about your counselling, prior to booking an appointment.

If you would like to know a bit more about me and what I offer, please look at my website www.wilmslowcounselling.co.uk

I look forward to meeting you.
