I am an accredited Humanistic Counsellor with experience of working with children, young people and adults. I have trained as a Couples Counsellor and can help you to address and work through difficulties you may be having in your relationship either with a partner, relative or friend.Counselling can be a challenging and life changing experience which enables you to go forward in your life.
I appreciate how difficult it can be to open up about your feelings and I will do all that I can to make you feel comfortable. My focus is on our relationship. I am non-judgemental. I will offer you a safe and confidential place in my counselling room to safely explore your circumstances.
Obstacles that are experienced by us in the here and now, maybe as a result of events in our childhood or teenage years, or as a result of current day events such as anxiety, bereavement, depression or stress in the workplace. Retirement, separation, divorce and domestic violence can all have an impact on how we manage our day to day life. By removing the hurdles and difficulties that exist in our lives we can then make the changes that we want, to move on.
I am trained in Eye Movement, De-Sensitising and Reprocessing. This is a non-drug, non-hypnotic psychotherapy which is extremely effective for those who have unhappy memories or who have suffered a traumatic experience. When painful memories are avoided they can keep their disturbing power. With EMDR you can face these memories in a safe setting so that you do not feel overwhelmed by them. EMDR can be an efficient way of dealing with panic attacks, trauma, post traumatic stress, nightmares and flash backs. EMDR is valued because some people experience that they can achieve feeling better more quickly.
I have trained in working with people who have a gambling addiction.
I am a qualified Adoption Counsellor, trained by Barnardos and I have experience of working with adoption matters and associated issues.
I have attended the Cruse Bereavement Service training course and I am trained in dealing with issues such as loss, bereavement and grief.
I am able to work on a one to one or couples basis for short or long term work. My counselling room is close to local bus stops. Street parking is available also.
