About me

I provide short-term and long-term counselling for couples, individuals and young people aged 11+ in a confidential, safe, and comfortable environment, where you can explore the areas of your life that may be causing you problems.

My belief is that each person is unique and I use a combination of CBT, humanistic, gestalt and psychodynamic approaches in my work depending on individual needs and personalities to encourage greater insight, awareness, and understanding of why problems have arisen and how change can happen.  You are given the opportunity to talk about your life, thoughts and feelings in an open way that may not be possible with friends and family.  By offering my insights and supporting you to reflect on things, you can learn more about yourself and understand the nature and origins of your problems and in turn make the changes that you want, when you are ready.

Together we will set a goal of therapy for us to work towards supporting you to achieve your full potential by resolving areas of conflict or distress that you have.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an Accredited member of the British Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors (BACP) and have a BA (Hons) Degree in Integrative Relational Counselling and a Postgraduate Certificate in Adolescent and School Counselling.  I see a wide variety of clients from age 11+ in my private practice for both short and long-term counselling.

I have worked in a variety of settings including managing a large counselling practice at a health centre in Kingston, working as a School and University Counsellor, working as a Staff Support Counsellor for the NHS and counselling family members of sufferers of degenerative mental health.

I have undertaken the following additional specialised training:

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
