The Wellbeingbody Counselling and Psychotherapy Service

About me

At The Wellbeing Body Counselling and Psychotherapy Service, I offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions with care, compassion, and without judgment. No matter how big or small your problem may feel, we can understand, explore, and work through it together.

I’m Lydia, a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist with a Master’s degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I’ll be starting a PhD scholarship in September.

With over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, I’ve supported individuals through a wide range of challenges—such as eating disorders, self-harm, and suicidality—particularly within acute mental health settings. My approach is grounded in helping people work through the impact of past experiences, low self-esteem, and struggles with identity or life direction.

Whether you're seeking short-term support or a longer therapeutic journey, I offer flexible sessions both in person and online to suit your needs.

Let’s connect and explore how we can work together to support your mental health and wellbeing.

Training, qualifications & experience

I specialise in supporting adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low self-worth, and the lasting effects of adverse childhood experiences/ traumas. These experiences can deeply affect how we view ourselves and the world, but they don’t have to define your future. My approach is rooted in creating a compassionate space where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to work toward healing and personal growth.

I am also very passionate about supporting neurodiverse young people and young people struggling with their mental health.

I previously worked inpatient (in an acute inpatient setting) as a paediatric mental health practitioner for children and young people with complex mental health and/or neurodiversity. Who had been admitted following attempts to end their life, serious overdoses and self-injury, eating disorders/ disordered eating or complex social situations at the Royal Derby Hospital. My role required patient therapeutic work, working with the family (where appropriate) and working with the young persons wider network providing formulation and functional assessment of current behaviours/ events that have led up to admission, psychoeducation and clinical debriefing to support for staff.

I also have experience working in community mental health settings and understand how mental health can be impacted by our environment and resources or lack of which we have access to. I take a holistic approach to therapy. I consider not only your mental and emotional wellbeing but also your physical health, social environment, and access to resources. Taking a trauma-informed, empathetic, and person-centred approach.

In our sessions, we’ll work together to explore the emotional armor that may have protected you in the past but you may now be feeling like it’s holding you back. If expressing yourself verbally feels difficult, we can use creative therapeutic tools to help you connect with and process your emotions in ways that feel natural to you such as drawing, doodling, art etc.

If you have been considering reaching out, the first step is just a conversation and I am here waiting to hear from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
