CBT therapist and Highly Sensitive person mentor

About me

I am mainly a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist working with Depression, Panic, Low Self-esteem, social anxiety, Health Anxiety, OCD, PTSD, CFS, Chronic Pain and Phobias. I am experienced in all evidence-based practices for all the listed disorders including ERP for OCD. I have undertaken further training for 3rd wave CBT approaches, including Compassion Focused Therapy, Comprehend, Cope and Connect and long-term conditions training. I also have specialist experience with Highly Sensitive People (HSPS) and women freed from trafficking.

One of my interests is in highly sensitive people (HSPS)-sensory processing sensitivity. To find out more use the link: https://hsperson.com/test/highly-sensitive-test/

HSP’s are more aware of subtleties in their practical and emotional environment, and this can lead to stress whether at home or work. HSPs have such a lot to offer us all https://melodywilding.com/12-reasons-why-high-sensitivity-is-your-greatest-strength-in-the-workplace/ and reducing stress keeps this. Timely interventions help increase staff retention.

My innate ability to perceive a client’s central issues quickly and to create an effective and warm dialogue helps my clients to work quickly and safely towards their desired goals (for sensitive clients it’s very important to be seen and understood as they really are).

What is HSP mentoring?

An HSP mentor has a good understanding of what it is to be Highly Sensitive and facilitates the client in finding their path toward authentic sensitive living. HSP mentors can use a wider variety of interventions and tools and may also share some of their own journey. An HSP mentor also has a good knowledge of the trait and the research that underpins this knowledge.

My Values

I work in a very holistic way combining a client-led approach, tailored to each person’s individual needs, goals and expectations yet firmly anchored in evidence-based practice. My background in teaching means I emphasise lifelong learning. I am passionate about empowering clients through ensuring they have access to up-to-date information on their mental health difficulties to make informed choices about their treatment. We all suffer and go through challenging moments. This is not our fault. We are not built to go through this alone and therapy can help us on the journey of human experience. I am frequently humbled by my client’s experiences and consider being a therapist to be a privilege.
