About me

Do you work in a creative industry? Are you feeling a creative block, or uncertainty about what you're doing, leading to feelings you might name as depression and/or anxiety?

Maybe you're anxious about your work/life balance, or where your next gig (and therefore also payment?) is coming from.

Or perhaps you've been having doubts about your chosen career, feeling low self-esteem, or your inner critic is harshly comparing you to others.

Counselling can be a space to explore your feelings, patterns of behaviour, or blocks that are in your way, so that you feel freer to create with your whole self, whether that's for the first time, or it's something you're looking to re-discover.

To choose a creative life brings unique difficulties. I have been a singer, singing student and singing teacher for years. My own experience of vocal problems, blocks in connecting with the body and emotions, and the insecurities of working within the arts, helps me relate to clients who are struggling with life as a creative.

I see our sessions as a collaboration. I will be alongside you and will listen to you in a way you might not have experienced before. I believe we are all doing the best we can and my aim is to offer a non-judgemental space where you are warmly accepted as you are. Being truly heard and held in such a space, you might find a way forward that works for you.

The process of therapy helps you to better understand and connect with yourself, your feelings, and even your body and breath. As well as being useful in dealing with the struggles of daily life and lessening the grip of anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem, these things are vital to creating or performing authentically.

You are welcome to book a free 20 minute chat on the phone or online before we meet, for us to see if I'm the counsellor you're looking for. To book this, go to the "email me" button at the top of this page.

After that, if it feels like a good fit for you, 50 minute sessions are held weekly online or at Valentine Voice Care in Lewes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
