About me

Hi, I’m Lucy. Welcome to my profile.

Are you feeling constantly anxious, disconnected, or just not like yourself?

Life doesn’t always make space for your feelings ~ counselling does. I'm an integrative counsellor offering a warm, compassionate space for you to explore whatever’s on your mind.

I work in a gentle, collaborative way that honours your pace, your experiences, and your agency. You don’t need a diagnosis or the right words ~ just a willingness to show up and we can start from there ~ exactly where you are.

I'm a qualified trauma-informed, Person-Centred counsellor in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, offering one-to-one to one counselling sessions to adults navigating life's challenges.

I work with adults (18+) face-to-face, online, or on the telephone, offering flexibility and accessibility to those seeking support

I offer counselling sessions Monday to Friday, with afternoon and evening appointments depending on availability. I also have availability on Wednesday mornings.

If you have a specific day or time in mind, feel free to get in touch ~ I'm happy to discuss what might work best for you.

I offer a FREE 15-20 minute initial phone call for any questions you may have.

Life can feel overwhelming, and at times, we may feel stuck. Whether you're trying to process past experiences or coping with something that has happened recently, you dont have to carry it on your own. I offer a supportive space to help ease the weight and make things feel more manageable.

If you're here, you've already taken an important step. Together, we can explore what matters most to you, with care, patience, and respect. You don't have to have all the answers before you begin - and whatever brings you here, all of you is welcome.

It's completely natural to feel unsure or apprehensive about reaching out for counselling. Here you'll find a gentle, supportive space to slow down, be heard and, begin to find your way forward.

Warmth, empathy and authenticity are at the heart of my practice, providing a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.

You may be experiencing anxiety, trauma, self-esteem struggles, low mood, relationship difficulties, or other challenges. My approach is collaborative and adaptable, ensuring that our sessions move in a way that feels right for you. Rather than directing or advising, I aim to help you deepen your understanding of yourself and develop the tools you need to live a more fulfilling life.

With specialised training in trauma-informed care, I provide a sensitive and responsive approach tailored to each individual. I integrate different therapeutic methods such as creative techniques where beneficial, ensuring that the work we do together is meaningful and suited to your needs.

Alongside the Person-Centred approach, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) into my practice. CBT helps clients identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, fostering positive change in their mental health and overall well-being.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to the highest ethical standards, ensuring a safe and professional practice.

I have extensive experience supporting individuals who have experienced sexual violence, including childhood sexual abuse. My training also equips me to help with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, emotional well-being, identity exploration, self-esteem, life transitions, attachment issues, and finding purpose and meaning. While I’ve outlined areas where I can offer support, I understand that life’s challenges rarely fit into neat categories. Each person’s experience is unique, and I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to provide a space where all aspects of your journey can be explored with care and compassion.

What to expect during your first session?

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel nervous or apprehensive. The first session is really about getting to know each other and making sure you feel safe, heard, and supported.

Here’s what usually happens:

A gentle Introduction:
We’ll begin by talking through what counselling is and how I work. I’ll explain things like confidentiality – what you share stays private, with a few legal exceptions that I’ll go over clearly.

Making a plan together:
We’ll look at practical things like how often we’ll meet, how long sessions are, and what to do if you ever need to cancel or reschedule.

Your story, in your time:
You’ll have space to talk about what’s brought you here. There’s no pressure to go into everything straight away – we’ll go at your pace. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just not yourself, this is your time to explore what matters to you.

Questions are welcome:
You’re welcome to ask me anything about the counselling process, how I work, or anything else that helps you feel more comfortable.

This first session is also a chance for you to get a sense of whether I’m the right fit for you. A strong, trusting relationship is at the heart of the therapeutic process, and that starts with feeling safe and respected.

Finding the right counsellor is important, which is why I offer a FREE 15-20 minute telephone consultation. This allows us to see if we’re the right fit and helps me understand what you’re looking for in therapy.

How counselling can help

Counselling offers a safe and supportive space to explore what’s going on for you ~ whether that’s past experiences, current challenges, or feelings that feel difficult to understand or manage.

You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, low, or simply unsure where to begin. In counselling, we take the time to gently unpack what you’re carrying, at your pace.

This process can help you:

  • Understand and make sense of your thoughts and feelings
  • Feel more connected to yourself and your needs
  • Develop self-compassion and resilience
  • Identify patterns or behaviours that no longer serve you
  • Navigate life’s challenges with more clarity and confidence

If you're uncertain, please consider scheduling a free initial consultation to discuss how therapy can support you on your journey. You are welcome to take a look at my website for further information too - this can be found at the top of my profile.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
