About me
I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and a registered member with British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). My work in counselling is to ensure that I provide a safe, non-judgemental space for my clients to talk through and explore their problems.
I work in a non-directive way, which means that my client is at the centre of the therapy and is free to explore their thoughts, feelings and emotions, with me supporting them along the way.
My work includes one to one therapy, face to face preferred but will do phone and online therapy, dealing with a broad range of issues that clients may present. By working together, we can look to identify the negative thoughts that prompt the behaviours that impact on your being as well as provide clarity that can allow you to confront, accept and deal with issues that seem a little overwhelming.
Confidentiality is a critical element of working with my clients; at all times your anonymity will be respected by me. This is a key component to the work that I do in counselling and is encompassed within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, to which I adhere to.
As a registered member with the BACP it is important that I attend regular Supervision, which is an essential part of working as a Counsellor & Psychotherapist and underpins my work to ensure that I work safely, effectively and ethically. All client work discussed in supervision will also adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling professions and is subject to the Confidential agreement which is consistent with my clients.
With all my clients I can offer short or long-term counselling and psychotherapy.
Training, qualifications & experience
After completing my undergrad, I went on to gain my MSc in sports, exercise and psychology at Ulster University, which eventually led to me studying CPCAB Level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling at Lewisham College.
During my studies, I joined an agency (Care to Listen), working within their NHS IAPT service, offering short-term therapy for clients.
Over the last 3 years, I've added to my core training by attending Continued Professional Development (CPD) training such: Young People, Substance Misuse and Mental Health, Creative Techniques in Counselling, Working with clients with long-term conditions, Understanding and working with hoarding behaviours, Working with interpreters, Inside the mind of a person suffering from eating distress and Working with victims of sexual abuse.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
