About me

I am a psychoanalyst and psychoanalytic psychotherapist practising in South London.

I offer both short and long-term therapy and I use an up-to-date and flexible approach that values individual differences and appreciates the unique circumstances behind each person's distress and difficulties.

My way of working is suited for those who are looking for help to find their bearings while going through a time of crisis and/or for those who wish to examine their life more fully to address issues that have affected them over time.

In my practice I often see people who have decided to talk to someone because something that matters to them - a relationship, work, love, sexuality, their body or their identity - has become unmanageable or difficult to understand. I also see people who suffer from anxiety, depression and trauma, compulsive thoughts or actions, addictions and eating disorders.

The modality of therapy I offer is psychoanalytic: this means that the problems brought to the sessions are not treated only as a cause of suffering but also as a source of knowledge useful to bring about change. The sessions are designed as a space where it is possible access this knowledge and put it to good use, so that solutions can be found and new ways of experiencing life, work and relationships can be opened.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training and Qualifications:

I trained in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy with a Lacanian orientation at the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (CFAR) in London.

I have a PhD in Psychoanalysis (Nottingham University) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Addiction Psychology and Counselling (London South Bank University).

I am a member of the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (CFAR), a full clinical member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), a member of the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis (CPJA), and a member of the College of Psychoanalysts UK (CP-UK).

Experience:

I have over a decade of clinical experience in the UK working with a range of psychiatric, psychological and emotional issues both in private practice and in community mental health services.

Alongside my private practice, from 2010 to 2017 I also worked as as an individual and group counsellor for apas, a Nottingham based service for people with different types of substance and behavioural addiction.

Between 2013 and 2017 I was service manager for the GamCare counselling service in the East Midlands area and placement coordinator and supervisor for students on counselling and psychotherapy placements from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute and the University of Nottingham.

I am currently a clinical supervisor at the Psychosis Therapy Project (PTP), a London based therapy service for people experiencing psychosis provided by Islington Mind (www.islingtonmind.org.uk).

I also teach regularly in the public seminar programme, introductory course and clinical training programme at the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (www.cfar.org.uk) and in the psychoanalytic psychotherapy training programme at the Guild of Psychotherapists in London (www.guildofpsychotherapists.org.uk). I have run and organised training workshops and seminars for different clinical services in London, including the Highbury Counselling Centre, Brixton Mind, and Lambeth and Southwark Mind.
