About me

I am an experienced Integrative Counsellor offering a safe and confidential environment to help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours related to your life experiences.

It's when our thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour cause distress, become self-defeating or we struggle to make sense of them or unravel them that counselling may be beneficial.

It gives you time to reflect on what is happening in your life and develop a greater awareness and understanding of yourself and your relationships and to consider alternative, more effective ways of doing things.

As an Integrative Counsellor I am trained in the 3 main therapeutic approaches of Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Behavioural. I adapt my approach to suit my client's needs; enabling change in the most valuable way possible.

Training, qualifications & experience

Higher Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling

Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling

Diploma in Weight Management

Diploma in Hypnotherapy

I originally specialised as a Weight Loss Counsellor and ran my own weight loss business for over 5 years. I work with obese clients to help them understand their behaviour and relationship with food by working through the underlying issues and psychological reasons why they eat when they are not hungry.

I also have a mass of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor and worked at Brent Drug and Alcohol Counselling Service in London for 2 years.

I have worked within the NHS as a Staff Counsellor providing short-term counselling for stress at work and other work related issues.

Most recently I worked at One in Four, a charity specifically for adult survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA) or sexual violence. I have gained immense knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding CSA and have expertise in working with trauma and post traumatic stress disorder.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
