Louise O'Mahony 'Reg MBACP', BA Hons Counselling, FdA Couns' , CPCAB
I am an Integrative Counsellor who has gained experience through my counselling role with Mind mental health Charity and through my private practice. There I have worked with people who have experienced a range of issues that life continually throws at us everyday. Anxiety/panic, stress, low self-esteem, depression/sadness, traumas, phobias, family issues, bullying and bereavement to name a few.
With person centered approach being the basis of my work, along with integrative adaptations where appropriate to fit individuals needs. A confidential and safe space is provided to work in a sensitively empathic and non judgemental way, allowing you to explore your innermost thoughts and emotions. I will accompany you in your journey towards your goals.
Opening yourself up to working in this way can often feel scary to start with. Many of us are used to an environment where we hide our emotions and put on a brave face. Therefore it can feel strange allowing yourself to open up and venture into that scary place.
Counselling and therapy is a place for you to talk, to feel your feelings, to be witnessed, to find yourself more at home in your body, to come to a deeper experience and understanding of your life.
There are many reasons why people seek help. It might be that you need support for a specific reason, at a particularly stressful time in your life or you might be interested in a more on-going commitment to explore a bit deeper.
Taking the first step towards a more contented you can sometimes feel like a selfish one therefore difficult for us to bridge that divide.

I have a family connection with Dementia in my past and present and it is something I hold dear to my heart. I am passionate in helping families that suffer when their loved one is going through this disheartening decline. Carers Counselling is something I offer also. I realise Carers spend most of their time thinking of others which is commendable but exhausting, I offer a space to allow Carers to get back in touch with themselves again and turn some of their care inwards.
Being a witness to a loved one suffering with Dementia or other illnesses can really take its toll on family members and carers alike. The strain it can have on our physical and mental health can be overwhelming which is where self care and compassion are a necessity.
