About me

Hello, my name is Louise and I am passionate about helping people to discover the very personal, unique and innate human strengths which we all possess. I know it takes great courage to seek counselling and therapy and I am often inspired by clients who are prepared to take this step.  My aim is to provide a safe, confidential, accepting, supportive space to explore the often complex, personal issues, experiences and feelings which may be causing distress or confusion.

Talking therapeutically with a caring, empathic, committed professional can help people to understand things more clearly or help to see issues from a different perspective.  For me it can be about helping to bring out the very best in people while sometimes dealing with the worst, most moving human experiences.  Having professional support to enable the process is essential scaffolding for positive change to take place.

I have worked in voluntary, corporate, school and mental health agency settings and am particularly passionate about enhancing the wellbeing of young adults.  Key areas in which I work include concerns about depression, anxiety, trauma, difficulties with anger, self-esteem and relationship problems.

I also have a special interest in working with survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and child sexual abuse, providing long-term support for the healing and recovery process.  I work with adults, teenagers and young people (15 yrs+) building a genuine, trusting and caring relationship is at the core of my work.

My practice, built over ten years, is based in Shrewsbury town centre with private parking available. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate to work with both adults and children. I adhere to the ethical framework which guides my professional approach.

I work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday daytime hours (10.00am-5.00pm)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
