About me

The mind can be a scary place and most of us cope by "putting it out of our minds", whether that is through work, shopping, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, all can be a form of temporary coping mechanisms. The trouble is the problems don't go away, they percolate through our bodies creating physical problems as well as emotional.

I originally came to counselling after undertaking my own journey to understand myself, my feelings and relationships. The effect on me was life changing. Taking off your armour is hard, wearing a mask or being strong can be exhausting.

How can Counselling help?

My approach is to create an environment where you can be yourself, say what you want and know you won't be judged in any way. Nor will you be told what you "should" do, instead I will help you to explore your issues and patterns you have learnt which may no longer work for you and to realise that you can gradually change the way you feel and think about things.

The way that I work is Integrative and what this means to you is that I use different techniques and theories such as Person Centered Therapy, TA (Transactional analysis), CBT (cognitive Behavioural therapy) and tools from others too. All of my work has YOU, the client at the centre and I aim to guide you through the process at your pace and use the way which suits you and your world the best.

Relationship is at the heart of therapy in my view and that is the relationship you have with yourself and then the one you create with others. I endeavour to develop a relationship with you where you feel listened to, challenged if that's what you are looking for and held. This is a fluid process and is one which will be different at different times in your journey.

I totally believe the answers to your challenges lie within you and I am passionate about helping you to achieve what you are looking for. That may be to grow and develop a part of your personality, it may be to overcome an extremely hard current or past time in your life or it may be that you feel lost or stuck and are unable to see where to go next.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

We will go through our agreement on how to work together and when the sessions will be, when you are happy then we will both sign it and your will get a copy. I work within the BACP code of Ethics and keep to clear boundaries all the way through our agreement.
