About me

I work with Couples and individuals

If you are a straight couple, same sex couple or a throuple it is fantastic for me to work with you. I can show you a different way to communicate which creates safety and connection. It might be that you feel unheard or unappreciated or you may have lost the fun and intimacy in your relationship.

Imago Relationship Therapy is the model of therapy I use, It was created by Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly-Hunt in the 80's, made famous by Oprah Winfrey and Alanis Morrisette, both of whom used it in their own relationships.

The whole basis for the therapy is positive conscious listening and when you start to dialogue in the Imago way the imapct on your relationship is very exciting. Most people want to feel understood and appreciated. When you choose your partner/s it is because you are attracted to the way they approach life and sometimes life can take us in different directions causing conflicts. Our own defences seem to block our partner/s from being able to reach us.

Lets work together and I will hold the space and show you how to lower the barriers to the relationship you both want.

The mind can be a scary place and most of us cope by "putting it out of our minds", whether that is through work, shopping, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, all can be a form of temporary coping mechanisms. The trouble is the problems don't go away, they percolate through our bodies creating physical problems as well as emotional.

I totally believe the answers to your challenges lie within you and I am passionate about helping you to achieve what you are looking for. That may be to grow and develop a part of your personality, it may be to overcome an extremely hard current or past time in your life or it may be that you feel lost or stuck and are unable to see where to go next.

My approach is to create an environment for you to say what you want and know you won't be judged,  Nor will you be told what you "should" do, instead I will help you to explore the issues and patterns you have learnt which may no longer work for you. I will help you to realise that you can gradually change the way you feel and think about things.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

What you can expect at your first session

We will discuss the counselling process together and decide on an initial style to suit you. This tends to move and change as you begin to understand and explore your issues more. We will go through our agreement on how to work together and when the sessions will be, when you are happy then we will both sign it and your will get a copy. I work within the BACP code of Ethics and keep to clear boundaries all the way through our agreement.

Please feel free to ask me any questions or queries you may have. You can call, text or contact me via email.
