About me

Hi, I’m Louise and I’m a Humanistic Gestalt Counsellor and a Qualified Coach based in Fareham. I offer affordable counselling and/or coaching to anyone aged 14 and above.

You'll find that my wide range of skills and tools help me to tailor my approach to best suit your needs and preference. I am very down to earth, a very good listener and provide a professional service.

Getting started

I know the first step can sometimes be the hardest and finding the right person to work with is really important. I offer a free telephone consultation so you can see if I'm right for you. I offer concessionary rates and can also offer a payment plan if needed.

My approach

I combine Gestalt counselling with Clean Language Coaching which makes my approach dynamic, creative and highly respectful. I have also now added EMDR to my skill set which can be very helpful for trauma, phobias and anxiety.

I’ve always loved getting to know what makes people tick and, having uncovered a growing interest in helping people to find the best version of themselves, I decided to retrain as a coach after a career in marketing. I then trained as a counsellor as I found I could help people with more by having both qualifications and skillsets.

I provide a comfortable space that is non-judgemental and empathetic. My creative marketing background has stayed with me as I have chosen coaching and counselling approaches that bring this in – I use creative experiments, metaphors and symbols to help my clients see things from a different perspective and this often gives them increased personal insight and understanding

... And if creative approaches are not for you, then I am also very good at simply listening, I can also offer a more structured approach.

You'll find that I have a wide range of skills and tools that help me tailor my approach to suit your needs and preference.

Background

I have lots of life experiences that help to inform my approach. I was a young carer and encountered bereavement in childhood. I support others with a learning disability, dementia and neurodiversity and I have had personal experiences of stress & burnout, anxiety, depression and fear of public speaking ...

Whilst I have had some challenging life experiences, I know that we are all unique and everything impacts us in many different ways. My approach is to be curious, never assume and to understand your experience from your frame of reference.

How I work

I deliver counselling online or by telephone (using Zoom or any other preferred platform). I can also offer face to face but my availability is limited.

I am committed to running an ethical and professional practice, underpinned by my own values and principles and I am governed by those of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) ethical framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
