About me
You finally found my profile! I am Louise, a down to earth 57 year old counsellor with a good sense of humour. I am not just a counsellor I am also a mum, wife, daughter and sister. You are probably searching for someone that you feel a connection with. I like to keep things simple and straightforward (no jargon here)
You are looking for a counsellor that is a good match right?
There are so many profiles to look through on this directory, its exhausting, how do you choose? It can be overwhelming and time consuming. So much so that you might decide to leave it for today and come back to the directory at a different time.
However if you have looked at some profiles you may find that ultimately, you are looking for someone that you can feel a connection with, a therapist that is warm, kind, gentle and nurturing. After-all you want to feel free to talk about anything and be comfortable. Even if you find yourself angry, crying, or laughing during a session, it's all important stuff along the way.
Our therapy relationship will be unique, like no other in every day life. Our relationship is the recipe for changes to happen, for you to feel that someone else understands you and is supporting you to find relief and a better way forward in life.
I will see the best in you, even when you cant see it yourself.
How I work
I work online (video link) or by telephone, so I can help you wherever you live in the U.K, and I have some availability at the moment. On occasion some clients have had their pet in a video session. If you want to bring your pet to the session then this is welcome too!
Sessions are for a full 60 minutes.
What difficulties I work with, and my area of expertise
I specialise in anxiety difficulties. I have helped many clients with their anxiety over the years.
How I can help you
- Help you to understand your thoughts and feelings.
You may be struggling with mild anxiety, moderate or find that it is debilitating. It is probably making you feel frustrated and unhappy and it restricts what you do. You might be struggling to function at work, at home, in relationships, socially.
You may be worried a lot of the time and that you have lots of "what if" thoughts. You are "future thinking" which is the fuel for the fire in creating anxiety. Do you restrict or stop doing things for fear of what might happen? I can help you make sense of this and understand what is happening to you.
- Help you to develop ways of coping and find new ways of managing your thoughts and feelings.
I can help you to find a better way of managing your anxiety. We will explore what has worked or not worked for you in the past, and what will work better for you going forward. I will help you to find better coping strategies and ways of tackling intrusive unhelpful thoughts that cause your anxiety. - Enable you to work through difficult feelings.
I will help you to explore your feelings and help you to understand yourself better. Your anxiety is creating unhappiness and your unhappiness is creating anxiety, you might be stuck in a cycle of thinking, feeling and behaving in a restricted way. I can hep you to break that cycle. - Explore a different perspective.
Your perspective of your anxiety is not fixed, you might feel there is no escape from the way you think and feel, however by learning about yourself and how your mind is working are the first steps to changing your perspective. How you think and feel now will evolve and will be different at the end of therapy. - Find strategies to help you move forward.
You are unique, we will work together to find your way of managing and decreasing your anxiety so that you can reach a more peaceful state of mind.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
