MBACP Integrative Counsellor

About me

Hi there, I’m Louise. We can all face times when we feel we might need some extra support whilst we navigate life or certain issues. It can be daunting, but seeking counselling can also help encourage an improved sense of self-awareness and the ability to pay attention to your own needs, because you matter.

I can help by providing you with a safe, accepting space in which to explore and reflect on your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I will listen to what you wish to share with warmth, openness and without judgment.

As a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor, I can use different therapeutic approaches in order to tailor therapy to best suit your individual needs as a person. We may also adapt this as we go along based on what you might wish to achieve. Every client is different and it’s important that I understand you as a unique individual and your life experience, from your perspective.

When working with children and young people, I can also use creative and play interventions. This allows them to express their individuality and offers choice in how they wish to interact. It’s important they feel comfortable throughout the counselling process.

I have worked with a variety of presenting issues, including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, trauma, overwhelm, grief, anger, burnout, family or relationship issues and self-esteem. I have experience working with neurotypical and neurodiverse clients of various age ranges, particularly with ADHD and ASC.

In addition to my private practice, I have worked with and supported a variety of clients within an established counselling agency setting. I also have experience in providing counselling sessions for students within primary and secondary school settings.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

My office is based in Tamworth town centre providing short and long term counselling sessions for adults, children and young people.

Sessions are delivered in person. I can also offer online and telephone sessions if required.

It's really important that you find the right counsellor for you. Speaking to several will help you find who you feel most comfortable working with.

I offer a free no obligation 15 minute phone call known as an 'Initial Consultation'. This gives you the opportunity to find out a bit more about my counselling service and the chance to ask any questions you may have.

If you would prefer to meet in person, I can offer a 30 minute face to face Initial Consultation at a cost of £25.00.

A first session will involve getting to know more about you and your life as a whole along with what may have brought you to seek therapy in the first place. If you have any specific aims or area's you wish to focus on, we can discuss these also.
