Louanne Lachman, BSc Psychology, MBACP (Accred), AMT (Accred)
I'm very aware of how painful and difficult it is to come into therapy. I continue to work on my own past as a matter of course. As a therapist, I am focused on assisting you to find a way of working that matches you.
I focus on your process and what is happening for you. I use a mindful and relational approach to this as well as many other tools, including meridian therapies which allow the intensity in the body to unwind. The release in the body, I have found, is essential for healing to happen.
I have had a very complex past which has allowed me to live in many different countries and be a part of many different cultures. The diversity of my history, as well as my professional training, informs my work. A variety in cultures, sexualities, genders and traumas is something I welcome in my work and in my life. Racism, sexual violence, neglect and other forms of injustice are a group of issues that I have a passion for working with.
I work in central Bristol, across the UK and internationally via web-video, and telephone. I offer an initial complimentary telephone or video consultation to answer your questions and discuss working together.
Counselling is a journey of learning about yourself. Part of this learning is about how your history and the beliefs you have about yourself impact your current well being. Together, we will explore ways to be with all of your personal difficulties in a way that allows you to become more at ease.
I am a qualified BACP psychotherapist and counsellor. I am trained to use a wide variety of counselling techniques which allow me to adapt my approach to suit the needs of each individual client. The main theoretical approaches that I use in my work are; Body centred, Person-centred and Humanistic. My website provides more information about my work, www.energycounselling.co.uk.
While I specialise in trauma below is a list of some of the areas I have experience of working with. If you cannot relate to any of these issues, please know that I am open to working with any problem that you may bring.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Long Term illness
Services that I offer:
I love to work with people as they transform and become more at ease with themselves. I do this through the services listed below. As a practitioner and trainer, I specialise in energy psychology practices. These practices create ease in the body quickly. I have used them for my own wellbeing and to support my clients over the past 20 years. They are indispensable tools that I teach in workshops and in my counselling practice.
- Individual counselling
- Individual training
- Group therapy
- Workshops and group training
- Supervision of therapists and counsellors
Workshop feedback (I do not post personal counselling feedback):
“EFT training was an amazing experience, I knew very little about EFT and had no expectation of what I might experience or learn. I found Lou informative with extensive knowledge and experience in many aspects of EFT; the only negative I can recall is the time passed so quickly. I have since worked with clients utilising EFT with consistently effective results on many levels.” Jennifer Campbell, Counsellor
“I felt in capable hands, held but also challenged. Lou has a killer smile. A powerful experience and a wonderful opportunity to share, not feel so isolated.” Linda Williamson, Psychotherapist
"Feel quite excited! Can really see how I could integrate into practice and my own personal life!"
"I really enjoyed the benefit of technique in Core Process as a whole. The personal experience of 'technique' was enlightening for my own benefit that undoubtably will benefit and enhance my practice."
"Good well balanced programme, facilitator willing to be flexible mirroring counselling process, whilst still holding and ensuring rounded programme."
"The trainer was approachable and facilitating. It was well structured and incorporated flexibility."
"Very well presented and I appreciated the flexibility. Very safe space and well held."
“Felt powerful having the EFT modelled on me, gave me a good idea of how this works and how it feels for clients.” Hayley Rivers, Counsellor
“A very useful training, both for personal and professional use with clients, delivered with clarity and love.” Liz Igoe, Psychotherapist
“A very good day, I enjoyed Lou’s style as a facilitator, very well held, felt very safe.”

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
