About me

Are you looking for support during a difficult time in your life? I can help you to manage your anxiety, to find solutions to your problems and to come to terms with a difficult situation. I work in a solution-focused and compassionate way ; helping you to have the courage to look forward and achieve your goals in life. I will do my best to assist you in understanding your feelings and together we will explore solutions to the issues that bother you the most.
I will help you to make decisions about any changes you might want to make in your life. You already have the inner resources to overcome your problems and I will encourage you to recognise and utilise your strengths.
I will show you how to be more compassionate to yourself so that you understand your emotions and are better able to take care of yourself. Please contact me if you would like more information about the way I work .

I work with individuals covering a wide range of issues including anxiety, stress, depression, panic disorder, family issues, bereavement, redundancy, sadness and low self confidence. Your contact with me will always be totally confidential. The first session is when we discuss your issue and you have the opportunity to decide if you would like to work with me before you make a commitment.

I also work with couples to help identify the cause of any conflict and to find ways to improve the relationship.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their code of ethical practice.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am particularly interested in how being compassionate to yourself can have a positive effect on the way you feel. We often blame ourselves when we face life’s challenges and feel guilt or shame when things go wrong. Replacing self criticism with wise compassion really helps.   I am also interested in how lifestyle affects emotional health - simple lifestyle changes can often improve mood in a positive way.
