Lorraine Evason BSc(Hons); Dip Therap Counselling; Dip Psychodynamic Counselling
I offer counselling in Frome and Trowbridge. I am a fully qualified counsellor with many years experience offering counselling sessions to adults. I establish a meaningful therapeutic relationship with you based on empathy and being heard laying the foundation to understanding yourself at a deeper level. Counselling can be a transformative experience evoking healing and easing pain and suffering in order that life can begin to be lived more fully.
Psychodynamic therapy is a longer term, open-ended therapy, meeting weekly. The therapeutic relationship is central. It aims to achieve understanding and insight around the underlying reasons for our problems, and enables us to cope with current and future difficulties.
Therapy is a commitment to oneself and to the process of therapy meeting weekly for 50 minutes. It is not a set of techniques or a quick fix to overcome symptoms. Connection with the therapist engages with unconscious communication from the depths of you. This communication takes place between two minds; yours and the therapist. It takes commitment by the therapist and yourself.
I am a Registered member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I have worked in the NHS in mental health all of my working life in psychological therapies and previously as a Registered Mental Health Nurse.
For almost seven years I worked in GP surgeries with a wide range of people for psychological therapy in the NHS for depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, family problems, bereavement, low self-esteem, childhood trauma and many other psychological issues and distress. I am now in private practice.
I am experienced in short term and long term therapy. I offer open-ended therapy.
I provide confidential, one to one, face to face, therapy for adults from age 18.
