About me

Lorna Sharp BACP Registered Person Centred Counsellor workings with adults 18+ 

I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor who specialises in Person centred therapy and Cognitive behaviour therapy to support you explore any goals or changes you would like to explore with compassion and care. I am here to provide a space for you to come as you are and be heard. To explore what is troubling you and journey through it at your pace, in a way that suits you, towards your desired outcome, which may be; healing, recovery, breakthrough or acceptance. I provide short term and long term therapy to suit your needs and have experience in working with depression, anxiety, phobias, trauma, grief, stress, neurodiversity, relationship issues, family dynamics, self esteem and processing the daily challenges, such as people pleasing, feeling lonely, insomnia, negativity, fear of failure and life changes. I also have experience of Christian faith based work. 

It can be anxiety provoking seeking someone to share your inner most concerns, hurts and struggles with. I provide a warm and reassuring space and offer a free 30 min phone consultation to discuss what you seek from therapy and how I can support you.

I provide evening work. I have experience working in mental health residential care I am passionate about helping people thrive in a way that is unique to them. 

Training, qualifications & experience

I am registered with BACP. I am qualified in Therapeutic Counselling, with a focus on Person centred therapy.

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, ADHD, life changes, loss and bereavement, stress, relationship difficulties and low self-esteem and confidence.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
