Local Counselling Centre
With clinic rooms in Letchworth, Local Counselling Centre, (LCC), provides counselling and psychotherapy for people from all walks of life in a safe, non-judgemental manner.
We offer low and full cost services from only £15 per session.
At LCC we appreciate that finding the right therapist can be daunting. There are many types of therapy and therapists often have different kinds of approaches or styles. Through our professional practice management service we will direct you to the right type of therapy and the right therapist for you, selected from our highly skilled and professional team. Therapists can only register with LCC if they are accredited with a nationally recognised counselling or psychotherapy professional body. Our specialist sex and relationship therapists have completed a minimum two year post graduate diploma in Psychosexual Psychotherapy in addition to their core nursing or counselling qualification. We believe that a weekend course in couple therapy is not enough to work in this field.
Our team covers the full range of counselling approaches, including CBT, Integrative, Psychosexual, Art, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. We offer NICE recommended specialist treatments for anxiety, OCD, depression, bereavement, emotional eating, sex and relationship issues, child, adolescent and families.
We also offer group therapy for Over 70's, Bereavement and Mindfulness.
Please see our website for a fuller description of our services or contact our Practice Manager, Kathy Freeman on 01462 674671 firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our rooms in Letchworth are available to hire by professionals or charities on a long term or ad hoc basis for just £15 an hour. Please contact Kathy Freeman, Practice Manager, at email@example.com, for more information.
Training, qualifications & experience
All of our therapists are fully insured, DBS checked, hold professional body membership and are highly qualified. In addition to the qualified team up to 10 trainees work with us on placement and this enables us to provide a low cost service. The trainees come from recognised training institutions and work under close supervision.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists
COSRT is the UK’s leading membership organisation for therapists specialising in sexual and relationship issues.
All members must abide by their Code of Ethics and the performance of accredited members is regularly monitored.
