About me

Hello and a warm welcome to Liz Harrison Counselling

How may I help you?

Finding everyday a struggle and need to find a way to help you cope?   Having relationship difficulties? Is your anxiety or depression taking control of your life? Would you like to improve your self-esteem and get your confidence back? Maybe you have experienced a loss or bereavement and need to find a way to deal with your pain?  You may not always quite know what it is that is troubling you but know that you just need to talk to someone to shine a light on your issues to help you move forward with your life.

Whatever is going on for you, talking it through with someone who can really hear you, who does not judge you and aims to understand your issues from your point of view, can help.

I am trained to work with individuals and couples.

How I work

I work in a warm, supportive way enabling you to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions in a confidential and safe environment. This exploration can lead to greater self-awareness allowing you to feel more in control to make those positive changes in your life and to see things more clearly.

As an experienced person-centred counsellor I have worked with clients of all genders, sexualities and ages from different cultures with many different issues.  Your issues may be related to recent or past experiences and sometimes, it is not until we engage in counselling, that we can start to unpick what is really going on for us.

What is a first session like?

I understand that taking that first step can sometimes be quite daunting and what I usually suggest is that we arrange just one session initially so you can meet me and see if I am the right counsellor for you.  In that session you will get an idea of how I work and at the end of the session you can then decide what feels right for you going forwards.

How long will it take?

If you choose to carry on with counselling you are free to end your therapy at any point.  Some people need just a few sessions of counselling whilst other people may prefer to work for a few months or longer.  Everyone is different with different needs so we work together at a pace that is right for you.

How can I find out more before I book a session?

If you would like to find out more about counselling please ring or email for an informal friendly chat.
Please note, if you leave me a message I aim to reply within 48h.  If you do not here from me please check your email junk or spam folder...Thanks!

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
