If you are experiencing low mood, feeling sad, anxious, worried or have suffered a traumatic event such as bereavement or an accident I would be happy to meet you and help you to navigate through your difficulties.
My approach is compassionate empathetic and sometimes directive and challenging if required.
I offer short and long term therapy and use cognitive, behavioural and acceptance and commitment. You will explore your concerns within an environment that is confidential and safe.
I take a collaborative approach and will act as a facilitator and coach to help you to identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and unhealthy behaviours. Together, we will set some realistic targets, test out beliefs and values using educational material and evidence based strategies and provide you with the space to express your emotions and process them.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist registered with the BABCP. I currently work at an NHS psychological therapy service treating individuals aged 16 years and over with mild to moderate levels of anxiety disorders and depression, including OCD, Trichotillomania, social anxiety, specific phobias, post traumatic stress disorder and bereavement.
Before moving into psychological therapy in 2011, I was employed as a social worker with young offenders, a Probation officer and latterly a teacher of Psychology, Health and social care and Public services with an additional role of careers advisor. My role was to educate and facilitate life changes, aiding decision making and increasing awareness of psychological well-being.
I continue to focus on continuous professional development and training and have recently completed a course on long term health conditions increasing my awareness of the impact health conditions such as fibromyalgia, diabetes, COPD, cancer and CHD have on psychological health.
