I provide short and long term therapy using cognitive behavioural and acceptance and commitment interventions to help you to better understand your problems/issues from its development and maintenance to its resolution.
I take a collaborative approach acting as facilitator and coach to help you change unhelpful patterns of behaviour and thinking by setting realistic targets and testing out beliefs through behavioural experiments and thought records.
I provide a safe, trusting and confidential environment free from judgement and with equality and respectful partnership.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist registered with the BABCP. I currently work at an NHS psychological therapy service treating individuals aged 16 years and over with mild to moderate levels of anxiety disorders and depression, including OCD, Trichotillomania, social anxiety, specific phobias, post traumatic stress disorder and bereavement.
Before moving into psychological therapy in 2011, I was employed as a social worker with young offenders, a Probation officer and latterly a teacher of Psychology, Health and social care and Public services with an additional role of careers advisor. My role was to educate and facilitate life changes, aiding decision making and increasing awareness of psychological well-being.
I continue to focus on continuous professional development and training and have recently completed a course on long term health conditions increasing my awareness of the impact health conditions such as fibromyalgia, diabetes, COPD, cancer and CHD have on psychological health.
