About me

I offer individual and couples counselling.

For individuals

I use CBT and metacognitive therapy techniques to shake up unhelpful patterns of thinking and being that underlie and maintain distress. Working with you I aim to identify and help you to overcome the common psychological traps that underlie: depression, anxiety,  existential crisis, fear of death, hopelessness, imposter syndrome, type A behaviour, anger and irritability, shyness, panic attacks, self esteem problems, relationship trauma and PTSD.

Alongside problem focused treatment my aim in working with you will be to help you to master skills that underlie psychological flexibility and resilience. An important aspect of this is looking at a positive future focus and helping you to uncover strategies that bring you closer to living the life you want. Using acceptance and commitment therapy I have helped many clients connect with what they value in life and as a result they have improved their relationships, found increased self acceptance and made positive changes at work. Individual personal values such as; acceptance, patience, excitement and commitment are important guides as to who we are and what makes us happy. My work with you will always hold this in mind.

Independent measures of outcome data* have shown consistent excellent success rates for my patients which I believe is a testament to taking a holistic, practical and skills based approach in my work.

For couples

I practice Cognitive Behavioural Couples Therapy (CBCT), the new gold standard in couples therapy. The therapy involves identifying issues that are causing distress, identifying patterns of unhelpful thinking and behaviours that have developed within the relationship as a unit and experiential practices which are set as ‘in between session tasks’. These tasks are designed to improve closeness, understanding, security, excitement and pleasure. Sessions are predominantly couple based but also involve individual sessions to complement the couple work.

CBCT is effective in treating the following problems:
• Frequent arguing
• Family conflicts
• Parenting
• Commitment issues
• Lack of Trust
• Jealousy
• Lacking intimacy and closeness
• Impacts of Long term conditions and illness
• Affairs and Betrayals
• Lack of confidence
• Supporting your partner in overcoming anxiety or depression

Therapy options:

I offer short and long-term therapy via online consultations or in my therapy room in Spitalfields, London.
