Lisa Wyllie (PGDip, MBACP) - Uniquely Minded Counselling Glasgow
About me
Hello and thank you for visiting my profile.
Making a decision to choose a therapist to work with can be confusing and overwhelming, so with my profile I aim to give you an idea of who I am and how I work so you can decide whether I would be a good fit for you.
My name is Lisa and my counselling practice is called Uniquely Minded Counselling, which is based in the Charing Cross area of Glasgow. I work with individuals and people in relationships (16 years +) mostly in person but also offer online video counselling if you are unable to attend in person for any reason. Although I prefer to have at least our first session in person before working together online.
I welcome working with people from all walks of life and offer a safe, relaxed, non-judgemental and confidential space for you to explore whatever issues are troubling you.
The following are just some of the issues I can help with:
- identity struggles/crisis
- gender
- autism/aspergers
- loss
- grief
- depression
- anxiety
- stress
- relationship troubles
- communication problems
- anger
What you can expect from counselling with me...
I am a person-centred counsellor, and so non-directive, meaning you will steer our conversation whilst I will offer insights, observations and challenges, when appropriate. I will not tell you what to do, or how to 'fix' things, but instead we will explore any issues together, and any potential solutions.
I aim to establish a nurturing therapeutic relationship with you, characterised by transparency, authenticity, mutual respect and trust, and just a dash of humour!
Next steps...
You can contact me by text, phone or email to give me an idea of why you are seeking counselling and any preference of days/times of appointments. I offer a FREE 15 minute telephone consultation, if required, for you to ask any questions. Otherwise we can agree the date and time of your first session.
At the end of the first session, we can agree upon when and how often you want counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and qualifications in Psychology and Social Sciences. Additional training includes ASSIST (Suicide Prevention) and Mental Health First Aid.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, Rainbow Therapy Scotland and Pink Therapy UK; I adhere to their ethical framework and professional practice standards. I undergo regular supervision and am committed to continuous personal development.
I am a qualified person-centred therapist with over 10 years experience in the helping professions having worked extensively within the charitable/not-for-profit-sector, particularly working with people affected by a loved one’s substance misuse/addiction and people living with long-term and chronic conditions and unpaid carers.
Out with my working life, I am also a carer for my partner who is autistic which I believe enriches my practice and greatly deepens the ways in which I connect with and relate to people.
I have a great interest in people with intersectional identities, and in the issue of internalised stigma.
