About me

Have you been feeling anxious, stressed, depressed or overwhelmed? Do you often feel angry, unhappy, or lonely? or maybe a sense that something isn't quite right?

I am an integrative counsellor, meaning I draw on different counselling approaches to tailor them to your needs. I specialise in trauma, using a combination of experience and advanced training to help support the needs of trauma victims. Alongside this, I use somatic experiencing, which is a body-based approach that helps to address and release blocked emotions held in the body resulting from past highly stressful or traumatic experiences. Overall, I offer a warm, non-judgmental, and confidential space where you can feel truly heard and listened to.

Life can be unpredictably challenging and messy at times. We all struggle from time to time, which can lead to us thinking, feeling, or acting in ways we don't understand. Sometimes we can feel stuck, desiring a change but unable to find a way forward. I believe we all can change, but we don't always see it, we don't always believe it, however seeking help is the first step to making this change.

Therefore, with so many counsellors to choose from, finding a counsellor for you can be a difficult task. I offer a free 15-minute initial phone consultation where we can talk a little bit about what has brought you to counselling, how I work and whether I am the right fit for you and your needs, with no obligation to move forward.

I have a First Class BSc (Hons) Degree in Integrative Counselling and I am fully insured and DBS checked.

For more information about what I can offer or to book a free consultation please email me at Lisa_nolan_@outlook.com

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a First Class BSc (Hons) Degree in Integrative Counselling.  As an Integrative Counsellor I am trained to work with a number of approaches, including Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Existential, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I have obtained the Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) Certification, which enables me to be trauma-informed, facilitate a safe physical and emotional environment with my clients and to fully integrate my knowledge on trauma into practice.

I believe, every client is unique in their own way and therefore, not one way of working is going to help everyone at every moment in their life, thus being able to draw from different approaches, can provide me to deliver the best possible care for each of my clients.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), this means, I adhere to their ethical code and best practise guidelines. It also indicates that I am devoted to ongoing supervision and personal and professional development.

I am fully insured and DBS checked.

I have experience working within the NHS as a qualified counsellor with the organisation Mind. In my years of practice I have worked with people of all ages and backgrounds with different issues such as anxiety/depression, relationship issues, trauma and disordered eating.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
