About me

My name is Lisa Hazell, and I am a registered MBACP Trauma Informed Counsellor.  I have worked in many settings developing a large skill set.  I have experience of working with Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Domestic Abuse as a Therapist and Key Worker in Women's refuge,  Ex-offenders, homelessness, drug/alcohol addictions, Veterans, self-harm, ADHD, Autism, SEMH.  I currently have a contract to counsel staff within Education around the country, and I also currently work with University students.  I have worked for 14 years in education working in Pupil Referral Units supported chronically disengaged pupils.

As a Trauma Informed Counsellor, I will offer you a safe space to help you explore your core issues and move toward a healthy, fulfilling life.  With honesty and compassion, I will work with you to create an open channel of communication.  The goal of our therapy sessions together will be to help you develop the mental fortitude needed to lead a successful life.  Additionally, we will work on the skill of self-compassion, which will allow you to move more easily through difficult times in the future as well as become a more productive and happier person.

My great passion is bringing healing to people who have been through traumatic/stressful experiences.  When people experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel.  I help my clients to find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole, and safe.  Additionally, I am currently studying for my Masters in Trauma, where my specialism will be working with traumatised children.

Your story, your pain, and your collection of struggles are unique to you.  There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.  We will spend time understanding exactly what you are experiencing and why so that when you start making changes that improve your life, they will stick.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
