Dr Lisa Greenspan
I offer a safe space you to speak about difficulties from the past or help to manage something that’s going on right now, whether you're a child, young person, family or individual adult. The sessions are in confidence so you can be really listened to if you wish to speak about difficult feelings and events. I also have much experiencing working with people with physical disabilities or learning disabilities and practice a range of approaches, always respecting your experience with acceptance and compassion.
I am a mindfulness trainer and can bring meditation, visualization and body-focusing practices into the work if you think this suits you. I offer mindfulness groups for adults and yoga and mindfulness for children and teens. I work from a comfortable therapy room and have use of a room disabled access if this is required. My work with children makes use of play therapy and is gentle and child-centred. My work with parents is non-judgmental and completely understanding of the challenges that parenting can bring. I have a great deal of experience with children and young people including those who are having difficulties in school and other relationships.
I first trained as an Occupational Psychologist and then as a Counselling Psychologist and along with individual work, I have much experience of working with organisations, facilitating groups of staff in their relationships with themselves and others. I am interested in stress and coping in people who care for others. My past research has dealt with the areas of occupational stress in care staff and nurses working with people who have dementia, and I am currently researching techniques to help mothers of children with learning disabilities or autism to cope.
