About me

Welcome.

How I can help you

There are many reasons why people seek Counselling. All of us face difficulties in life from time to time, but this may be more acute now than ever before. You may be feeling sad, angry, depressed, anxious or overwhelmed when you think about what you are dealing with currently or have gone through previously. In these times, some people seek counselling or coaching as a way of finding a way through difficult times, finding coping strategies and finding ways to get the most out of life.

I can offer you the time and a safe space for you to be able to think and talk. I will hear you and not judge you and will be able to offer you empathy and support.

I will facilitate you to understand different aspects of your life, your own behaviour and the issues that are preventing you from enjoying life.

  • We can explore both general and specific problems. I have extensive experience working with.
  • Anxiety, Depression, Loss, Relationships/ Family Issues,  Loneliness,  Self-confidence, Self-Esteem,  Stress, Life changes,  Loss of identity,  Long term life changes.

My core training is in integrative humanistic Counselling & Coach, which basically means that I will use techniques from several different types of therapy that I think are most suitable for individual clients. I’ll be focusing a lot on how you see yourself, how you relate in the world, and how I can support you to develop into being more comfortable with yourself and the world around you.

Therapy can seem daunting, and it can be weird sitting in a room with someone independent talking about your thoughts and feelings. It may be a completely new experience for you. You may find that you share more than you expected which is a good thing. You don’t need to carry on trying to do it all by yourself, contact me and we can overcome this together

I believe that everybody has the ability to grow and move forward, although there are times in our lives when we need some assistance and guidance.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

How does Counselling work?
My counselling room is a calm, neutral setting where you can be yourself; you won't be criticised, you won't be judged. I will accept you as you are, and will allow you to express yourself in perhaps a way you haven't been able to before.
I will listen, understand and then reflect that understanding back to you.

How long?
Therapy can be short term or  from 6 to 8 weeks to long term open ended, we will work at the pace which is beneficial to you.

From my experience as a Counsellor and Coach, I am aware that clients sometimes underestimate the very real benefits that structured counselling and coaching can provide.
