Lisa Ellis Ad.Dip.Couns. Dip.Anxiety.Couns. MBACP. Anxiety Recovery Specialist.
Hello and welcome to my profile. I am a counsellor working with specific experience and understanding of Stress and Anxiety and many other issues that relate to and arise from underlying anxiety. I work from a broad perspective and insight of what it is like for a person to have to live with stress and anxiety on many different levels, and the often co existing emotional and physical problems that embody the fabric of a persons experiences.
Stress and Anxiety are the response to our thoughts, feelings and fears that relate to our beliefs surrounding our internal and external world. These responses can often manifest and display different levels of Anxiety and certain disorders such as General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) Panic Disorder, Obsessional Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Phobias, Obsessional thoughts, Pure O, Health anxiety to name but a few, the list goes on.
This can often lead to feelings of low self worth, problematic decision making, anger issues, depression and many other unhealthy thoughts feelings and coping mechanisms.
Anxiety can often be confusing and misunderstood by a person, leading to turmoil as to the reasons behind their suffering. This is where l feel I can help you with a time sensitive approach with the aim of mind and body balance.
With this in mind the work would be centred around your own pace and individual needs to bring about new skills that you will be able to use and adapt for a more calm and rational way of living your life.
Training, qualifications & experience
My background started and has been maintained for a number of years working within the Substance Misuse field, particularly Alcohol Dependency. Many people self medicate with alcohol as a way of coping with underlying issues and I have training in areas of Trauma, Bereavement, Safeguarding, Anger and Mental health issues.
I have also worked for some time within a refuge setting whereby I have gained a huge amount of experience and insight into the dynamics of a abusive relationships and the issues born out of toxic relationships and of toxic environments.
With further research and training and due to working with victims of abuse, I take particular interest in how often these relationships manifest with issues of Narcisistic Abuse, Co-Dependency, Personality Disorders and many other issues that may accompany the dynamics in unhealthy relationship patterns, not just with others but within the personal relationship with ourselves.
This all covers a broad landscape and also features heavily in relation to Stress and Anxiety.
I am integratively trained which means I use a variety of approaches and theories, best tailored to your needs and with the emphasis on the relationship whereby you may feel supported, truly listened to and attended to in an understanding and non judgemental way.
I offer a down to earth, contemporary approach and would hope that you feel relaxed and related to within the relationship and also the therapy room which has a home from home feel, lift access and toilet facilities just outside the room.
So if you are looking into therapy, the chances are you are ready to take that leap of faith and work towards a more healthy deserving approach to your life.
This is where i would like to thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I look forward to hearing from you.
