About me

Hi, I’m Lisa. I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioural skills to assist you. Each client is unique, I adapt my approaches to suit you.

Working within a home environment, you are free to speak without fear or defences in a trusting non-judgemental environment. As we work together, we will explore the challenges that you are facing and find ways to enable you to move forward with a positive future.

Making the decision to seek counselling can feel daunting, please be assured it’s the first step to a positive outcome. Friends and family are great for support, but sometimes we hold back to protect them and ourselves. Seeking a counsellor can really assist you to find the answers within you, the benefits of counselling are you are not alone, that you are heard, and you have the space to explore your feelings and then you are able to process. Talking really does open the mind to feel understood. I will encourage and support you on your journey.

What to Expect

Once you have made contact, I can give you a brief call if you wish, to answer any questions you may have, then if you are happy to book an appointment we can arrange this. I will then text you to confirm all the details.

It may be helpful for you to think about what you want to gain from counselling.

The first session is very informal so please do not worry; this session is more of a two-way session for me to gain the whole picture. We can work together to unpick why you are feeling the way you are and break it down into easy sections for us to work together to find the solutions to your concerns. For most clients I like to work with fortnightly appointments, but this is something we can discuss.

I am on a register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (National Counselling Society) and have a clean disclosure and barring service check (DBS) record.

Please feel free to get in touch to start you journey.

Counselling can be life changing.

Some of my experience I have explained below.

Confidence Building Counselling

I have worked with many clients with low self-esteem, self- worth and low confidence. I find this also brings symptoms of anxiety. I find the journey people go through to improve these feelings empowering. We do this by exploring the here and now and your past to explore and process feelings and beliefs. This may involve some CBT techniques, but also talking therapy. I feel getting to the route of your feelings is key for you to more forward effectively.

I have experience working with people and partners who have autism. I find I work effectively with this client base as in previous roles I worked with clients with Autism and learning difficulties. I feel I have a good understanding of your needs and can work more directly with you so I can support you with the counselling process. I also support the partners to help them understand the difficulties people with autism have with expressing their feelings.

I began training as a counselling after I received bereavement counselling myself, I have always had a passion for bereavement counselling. I also run a free Bereavement support group. This is a very informal group to have a coffee with others that are going through the grief process. Please get in touch for further information.
