About me
Hi, I’m Lisa. I am a qualified Counsellor. Each client is unique, I adapt my approaches to suit you. I am also training in Rewind Therapy.
Working within a outside office environment, you are free to speak without fear or defences in a trusting non-judgemental environment. As we work together, we will explore the challenges that you are facing and find ways to enable you to move forward with a positive future. I also work via telephone or video call
Making the decision to seek counselling can feel daunting, please be assured it’s the first step to a positive outcome. Friends and family are great for support, but sometimes we hold back to protect them and ourselves. Seeking a counsellor can really assist you to find the answers within you, the benefits of counselling are you are not alone, that you are heard, and you have the space to explore your feelings and then you are able to process. Talking really does open the mind to feel understood. I will encourage and support you on your journey.
I work full time as a private counsellor, I do support several local care agencies with supporting their staff also, this is due to my care back ground in previous roles.
What to Expect
The first session is an opportunity for you to paint me a picture, a timeline of events, how this is affecting you, how is it making you feel, how long have you felt this way, who is involved. Are these feelings connected to the past or childhood. This gives me an insight in to your world. This also gives us the chance to gain trust so you feel safe to open up.
The next sessions we can start to unpick why you are feeling the way you are and break it down into easy sections for us to work together with your concerns. For most clients I like to work with fortnightly appointments, but this is something we can discuss, weekly appointments are available, online or face to face.
If you wish to discuss please get in touch or for more information please take a look at my website

Some of my experience I have explained below.
Autism/ High Functioning
I have experience working with people and partners who have autism/ ASD, ADHD. I find I work effectively with this client base, as in previous roles I worked with clients with Autism and learning difficulties. I feel I have a good understanding of your needs and can work more directly with you so I can support you with the counselling process. I also support the partners to help them understand the difficulties people with autism have with expressing their feelings. I am also finding lots of clients undiagnosed with ASD or ADHD coming to me with Poor mental health unaware this could be ASD or ADHD, I am also finding ladies symptoms are hightened by Peri or Menopause
Bereavement/ Loss
I have always had a passion for bereavement counselling. I feel understanding of the grief cycle assists you in your process. Grief and Loss is not just about someone dying, this can be a relationship breakup, loss of self, the process can feel like a grief. Grief has levels, loss of future, is a huge part of the process.
Domestic / Narcissistic Abuse
Recongising and recovering from abusive relationships, parents or partners, working together to rebuild, and process the affects of controlling relationships, building on self belief, self worth and confidence, working on the loss of self.
Perimenopause / Menopause and PMDD
Lots of clients come to me experience mental health difficulties, I do ask my ladies to monitor their monthly cycles and symptoms. I am finding more and more clients not realising that this could be Perimenopause / Menopause or PMDD.
Confidence Building Counselling
I have worked with many clients with low self-esteem, self- worth and low confidence. This can bring symptoms of anxiety. Clients find this journey empowering, to explore self and using techniques and strategies can build on their self belief, self worth and feel more confident. We do this by exploring the here and now and your past to explore and process feelings and beliefs.

I am also trained in Rewind Therapy
This method helps you gain control over traumatic memories. Instead of those memories triggering intense reactions, we’ll work on making them feel more like regular memories—something you can recall without strong emotions.
The rewind technique is a comfortable and effective treatment that can greatly reduce, and even remove, traumatic or phobic symptoms quickly through relaxation and guided imagery, all without even having to talk about the details of the traumatic incident(s) in question.
Let me explain why we use Rewind for trauma experiences.
Trauma often gets ‘stuck’ in the brain’s amygdala, this is a part of the brain that is responsible for our survival instincts kicking in and our strong emotions. Our goal is to help move that trauma into a different part of the brain where it won’t cause such strong reactions. Its like moving the information from one filing cabinet in our brain to another filing cabinet.
While no treatment is 100% effective most people who use this technique report positive changes within two weeks. We’re not here to make you forget your memories that is not the point of Rewind; we’re here to help you to be able to manage these memories better."
How I work with this technique is we would have a couple of counselling sessions to begin with to assess if rewind is appropriate, it maybe the case we need to explore some aspects through counselling to begin with. Then we will spend some time setting the process up, its paramount that we firstly we gain a content place to start and finish the process and that we find the part of the trauma that you feel most strongly about. Rest assured we will take it at your pace.
We will then do 3 rounds of the process and hopefully this reduces the distress of the trauma, we will then recap in 2 weeks, we can then assess from there.
