About me

Hi

I am Lisa and I am a qualified Counsellor. I am a BACP member and also have a clean DBS.

What I can offer you

I work within a private practice and work within organisations who support young people within care. I work within the theory of Person Centred Approach, but I work creatively to assist clients find the answers within themselves.

I believe that you are your own expert, I am not here to offer advice or to give direct instructions, I am here to listen and together we will find the solutions that is best for you. I will encourage and support you on your journey. As we work together, we will find the solutions or the peace to let go of the challenge you are facing, then enabling you to move forward with a positive outcome.

I am happy to support you with any concerns that you may be facing. You can feel free of fear and defences and be open, congruent to how you are feeling. I provide a confidential, supportive and non-judgmental space, where problems and upsetting situations can be discussed and explored; to gain understanding, relieve stress and ease emotional pain. We all encounter difficulties in life and sometimes need support and some personal time, even if family, friends or work colleagues are trying to help.

I work with a wide variety of clients, dealing with issues such as anxiety, stress and depression, low confidence, low self-worth and low self-esteem, bereavement, loss and change, trauma, abuse, relationship issues and family problems.

Making your first step

To decide to come for counselling can be a huge step...So if you are still at the stage where you are wondering whether counselling is for you I hope I can put your mind at ease.
I will not judge you, I will offer you a friendly voice at the end of the phone. We can have a brief chat and you can get a sense of how we can work together. You can ask any questions regarding counselling.

If you chose to make an appointment I am fairly flexible and can offer you a time slot to suit you. The sessions are for 50 minutes. After the first session you can decide if you are happy to continue and we can book the next session.

I understand making the decision to seek counselling can feel huge. From starting my training I was passionate to set up a home practice, to give my clients a safe and warm environment. I made the decision to study counselling, when I attended therapy myself for bereavement. I found the experience insightful and empowering and feel I can provide this feeling to my clients.

Within my practice I work with many different types of concerns and together we will find the answers within. I work with carers in crisis, and with my care background I feel I have a good understanding of the concerns that arise. I work with people with mental health and Learning difficulties to build confidence and self-esteem and encourage people to have self-belief. I also work with young people within care, I work with a wide variety of clients, dealing with issues such as anxiety, stress and depression, low confidence and self-belief, bereavement, loss and change, trauma and its consequences, relationship issues and family problems. I work with all age groups. I work with all age groups.
