About me

I am a qualified counsellor based in Shere near Guildford and by working from home, I can provide a quiet, safe space, to respectfully listen and help you 'to just talk'. By offering empathy and acceptance without judgement, together we can explore and understand life's difficulties that may be just too overwhelming to deal with alone.

My Approach

As a Humanistic Counsellor, I have a non directive approach with a belief that the relationship I develop with my client, is the core to therapeutic healing, working with offerings of CBT, Gestalt and Existential therapy, I can help you experience greater self awareness and deeper understanding of your feelings, enlightening the opportunity for personal growth.

Experience

Alongside my private practice I have worked as a volunteer counsellor for Age UK and Parent-Time as well as working in schools, providing Art Therapy for young children as a non intrusive form of therapy and support for those needing a space to feel safe and explore their feelings freely.

I originally trained and practiced as a Landscape Architect before becoming a mother of three. Motherhood enabled a change in direction for me to work in a supporting role, both in education, and for a Surrey based Family Mediation Service. Through a deeper personal awareness and greater understanding of the difficulties and challenges of family life, I became a counsellor and feel I am able to offer empathy and understanding to those in need of that extra support we all need from time to time.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
