About me

I am an integrative counsellor combining person-centred, gestalt and cognitive behaviour therapy in order to provide you with the most suitable service.

I understand how difficult it can be to take that first step and ask for help, and I believe that I make that process easier. I will provide you with a warm, comfortable space, offering the necessary conditions for you to open up and explore what may be preventing you from living a happy and fulfilling life.  It may be that you only need a slight nudge in the right direction, or it could be that we need to slowly peel back the layers to reveal the root cause of your distress. Either way, I would be happy to hear from you and begin that journey with you.

I offer a free introductory session (30 minutes) so that we can discuss what it is that has brought you to counselling, then if you decide we are the right fit for each other, we can book either your first session or a block of sessions.

Your first session will consist of a general chat so that we can get to know each other; I will explain what I can offer you, we will talk about our therapeutic contract and confidentiality, and we will explore what you would like to achieve through counselling. Depending on what you choose to work on, we may set goals that we review each session; for example, with social anxiety we might discuss small steps for you to take each week in order to progress towards your goal.

I often incorporate elements of EFT (emotional freedom technique) into my general counselling sessions, however can also offer sessions solely using EFT. EFT is a very powerful therapy which brings balance to your mind and body; it can help you to change negative thought patterns, manage pain, overcome phobias and much more.

I work within the ethical frameworks of the BACP and NCS, and hold an enhanced DBS certificate (updated annually).

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
