About me

I am a Pluralistic counsellor practicing in Dundee. If you are struggling with a difficult issue, then I would like to offer you a safe and confidential space where you can talk through things.

I currently offer online counselling, both for individuals and also relationship counselling for monogamous couples and polyamorous groups.

We can work together for a fixed short term period to achieve a specific goal, or have an open-ended agreement if you want to explore a complex or long-term issue.

Fees can be discussed on enquiry.

I am available to take new clients at present, on Wednesday afternoons only.

What would counselling be like for me?

As a Pluralistic counsellor, I believe that there is no one type of counselling that fits all clients - in fact, that there are as many different ways to do counselling as there are clients!

I have been trained to talk with you in depth in the first session, and then offer a selection of counselling approaches that I think you would find most useful and appealing: for instance, if a client has social anxiety, I might suggest that we can find strategies to manage panic attacks (CBT), or explore relationship patterns that cause anxiety (Transactional Analysis), or maybe just provide a space where you can be heard and accepted while you get your thoughts straight (Person-centred counselling).

If you are someone who is looking for a specific type of counselling from the start, I have experience using a variety of different counselling approaches including CBT and mindfulness, Transactional Analysis, Person-centred, Gestalt, Narrative, Solution-focused, Existential and creative therapies.

Once you know what options you have, we would work together collaboratively to explore and resolve the issue which has brought you to counselling. I know that your needs may change from when we make our first agreement, so I will check in every five sessions or so, to find out if you are still finding the counselling helpful, or if your priorities have changed and you want to try something different.

Wherever we go together in counselling, I will always provide non-judgmental, empathetic space where you can be heard and accepted.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
