About me

Hello and welcome! My name is Lindsay, I’m a friendly, experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, as well as trained nurse.

Do you feel anxious, low in mood, depressed, uncertain about the future or are you experiencing relationship problems? I provide easy to access counselling and psychotherapy for young people, couples and adults via a range of therapy platforms, including traditional face to face, zoom, face time, phone, Skype, secure chat room and text. To start you off, I offer a free 20 minute consultation/assessment for all potential clients.

I am based in Hale, Cheshire, however as I also provide a wide range of digital therapy platforms location needn't be an issue. Working online also offers you more convenience and time saving benefits. In addition, I also offer an online chat room, which is easy to use, as well as safe and secure; providing you with the choice of anonymity.

In addition to my private practice, I also write and contribute content for a range of newspapers and magazines as well as radio.

Why might you need psychotherapy/counselling?
You may find yourself looking for a counsellor / psychotherapist for a variety of reasons. Sometimes its hard to discuss certain issues with friends and family. Counselling and psychotherapy provides you with a valuable, safe space for you to explore any issues or difficulties that you may be experiencing confidentially, with the intention of helping you to feel happier and more in control of your life.

My approach
I am an integrative therapist which means that I use a variety of counselling styles to best suit your needs.
As mentioned, I offer a free 20-minute consultation, which enables us to decide if we can work together and highlight what you might want to achieve from therapy. We can also discuss your availability and preferred choice of access.
Your initial session can be conducted either face to face or over the phone. This is a good opportunity for us to discuss what you want from counselling and gain a sense of how it may benefit you.
Following this session,we can decide how we might work together and I may suggest an approach which might suit your needs and personal circumstances best.

My professional experience
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  As a member I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework which sets the standard for good and ethical therapeutic practice.

Before training as a psychotherapist / counsellor, I enjoyed a successful 20 year career in sales and marketing both in the retail and healthcare markets after I left general nursing. Now as a busy mother of two children, I fully appreciate the challenges we all face as individuals, juggling our roles as a parent, partner, wife, husband, sister, brother, friend and in our work making time for colleagues and professional relationships. My varied career history and experience helps me to understand and connect with a wide variety of clients.

I hope this information has been useful and helps you to find the right counsellor for you.

Please contact me if you have any questions. Currently I have day time and evening appointments available.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
