I am a Registered Member of BACP and a Chartered Counselling Psychologist. I practice integratively, using person-centred, existential and psychodynamic counselling. I value the therapeutic relationship, which I find can in itself be healing as part of the process.Counselling may be carried out long-term or short-term with individuals aged over sixteen.
I have over ten years experience post-qualification in counselling for issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems (individuals only), violence and abuse, and low self-esteem.
I value diversity, and enjoy counselling clients with all sorts of issues, among whom are senior citizens who I find are sometimes forgotten.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified in 2006 with my MA and Post-MA Diploma in Counselling Psychology from Regent's College, London. In 2011 I completed the Certificate in Counselling Supervision with Distinction from Edinburgh University.
During my five-year training I had a counselling placement for 2 years in a GP surgery, counselling clients for a wide range of issues, and a placement in a sexual health organisation, counselling clients referred mainly for issues arising from past abuse, and in a number of voluntary organisations .I have also done extensive work for Employee Assistance Programmes , and assessing the kind of counselling most appropriate for clients of an EAP Programme.
I have been in Private Practice since qualifying as a Counselling Psychologist.
I enjoy doing Continuous Professional Development, which I find both helps me to work more effectively and to keep up with current practice.
During my training I underwent 86 hours of personal therapy, which allowed me to see counselling from the client's point of view and experience the benefits of counselling, and hopefully helped to address some of my own issues.
