About me

You will find that the therapeutic relationship you experience with your counsellor is like no other relationship you will have in your life. I believe wholeheartedly that it is the key to the change my clients want to experience in themselves, their relationships and their lives. Within the safety of this therapeutic relationship is a space which enables my clients to trust in their own abilities to develop self-awareness though processing, reflecting, feeling and connecting to who they are, who they were, and who they would like to be.

I will often ask questions so that I can understand fully what it is like to be you, this allows me to imagine how it feels to walk in your shoes. It might be that we at times explore the background to any struggles you are facing or feelings you have, so that you can gain an understanding of what might be affecting you from your past, and therefore make the connection to how it is impacting on your life in the here and now. This awareness will allow you to talk about any feelings attached to concerns or painful events and creates the opportunity for you to choose a different way of being and seeing things in the future.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a qualified Dip.Couns Integrative Therapist, I trained in a number of different therapeutic modalities and will combine these in a way that best suits my clients’ needs. I follow the thought process that each of my clients are unique and there is there’s no ‘one size fits all’. In therapy, what works for one client may not necessarily work for another.  I have been practicing for 2 years and have helped a great many of clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
