Hello, Thank you for looking at my page. You would probably like to know about me and my therapeutic practice, Insight Therapy. I started in Private Practice after over twenty years as a Therapist and Supervisor in the public and charitable sector.
The feedback I have had from clients is that they feel safe and respected by me. They generally leave sessions feeling resourced and empowered towards change. My aim is to provide safe confidential Psychotherapy/Counselling/Clinical Supervision and training on the Isle of Wight.
I am available Monday,Tuesday, and Wednesday, with some evening sessions available. I can see you in a range of settings, depending on your availability, as I practice on the Isle of Wight from Northwood House in Cowes , Onward House (Pyle Street) and Watchbell House (Lugley Street) Newport. I also provide Clinical Supervision in Cowes on Thursdays.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and my core modality is Integrative Gestalt with a second elective training in Jungian Analysis. I have also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Solution-focused, Motivational Interviewing and Psychodynamic Therapy. I also have a Certificate in Clinical Supervision and Level 3 PTLLS and CERTA teaching and assessing qualifications. I am a registered member of BACP and on the accredited register of the Professional Standards Authority.
I have worked as a Psychotherapist/Counsellor since 1997. I was formerly the Clinical Manager and a clinical supervisor at Portsmouth Counselling Service where I was responsible for the clinical practice and CPD training for up to fifty counsellors and supervisors working in main stream (general), substance misuse and cross-cultural counselling. In my career, I have worked as a therapist and group facilitator for people with problems with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Bereavement, Mental Health problems, and problems with substance misuse.
I have worked as a therapist in substance misuse agencies, detoxification services, needle exchange services and residential rehabilitation centres in New Zealand and the UK. This includes working as a therapist at Clouds House in East Knoyle, Wiltshire. I have recently left my position as Counsellor/ Peer Mentor/Volunteer Co-ordinator at Southampton Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service where I was responsible for recruitment, training and clinical supervision of a team of volunteer counsellors and volunteers. I also provided one to one therapy for people with problems with drugs and alcohol. I am now in Private Practice.
