About me

Hi I'm Linda,

I am a holistic and integrative counsellor with over 20 years of experience. In that time I've worked with a wide range of people and issues. This has given me a good grasp of the human condition, understanding both the similarities and uniqueness of my clients.

You may be experiencing:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • issues within relationships with partners, family members and children
  • abuse
  • trauma
  • cancer

I often work with individual clients and their families who are struggling to come to terms with a serious diagnosis. This can be a frightening time and counselling can help you move through fear, turning a scary experience into something more positive and hopeful.

I'll help you see there that whatever confronts you, there is always another way and that you are not alone.

I specialise in a whole-person approach

A whole-person approach means looking at the mind, body, spirit and environment. Whilst talking therapy is important, my work and research has shown me that it is not enough for a sustainable change, for a sustainable change to happen we also need to think about nutrition, exercise and sleep to name just a few. There really is an inextricable link between the body and mind, 'You cannot heal the mind without healing the body and you cannot heal the body without healing the mind', there are many studies that show how every thought we have has an impact on our body.

My personal experience

Twenty years ago, my twin brother died from cancer, within a month of his passing, I too was diagnosed with cancer. It was a dark time, I felt so overwhelmed, so alone, yet in my heart I knew I would survive, I knew there was another way...

I sought counselling at Reach which has been a game changer... My counselling journey has helped me to heal and grow in many ways, it has helped me to turn negative self-talk into more positive and compassionate self-talk, positive affirmations for example, have helped me to build my self-esteem which has helped me to stop overthinking what others think of me.

I've learnt about the art of self-care and how to improve the health of the cells through implementing healthier eating behaviours and a healthier lifestyle.

Of course, change requires practice, patience and perseverance,  but I was ready. Although there were relapses, my counsellor explained to me that relapse is normal, and knowing that encouraged me to keep going.

During my journey, I realised that I wanted to share with others the many benefits of counselling, and that no matter what ails us, there is always another way. I enrolled on a counselling course and have never looked back...

The next step

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
