Linda Nunn BA (Hons) in Counselling MNCS (Accredited)
Hello my name is Linda .There are times we may need extra help and people come to counselling for a variety of reasons. Periods in your life may have left you feeling upset, confused, sad or afraid . Counselling can be a place for you to gain an understanding of what you are experiencing, make positive changes and to increase your sense of wellbeing.
I have over 6 years experience of counselling adults, children and young people. The issues I have mainly worked with are anxiety, depression, stress, low self esteem, loneliness , relationship issues, grief/loss, abuse ,addiction to social media and anger. I am a Accreted Member of the National Counselling Society .I am based 2 miles outside Durham City centre.
Depending on your goals and needs ,these are the various therapeutic models and techniques I can offer you ….
Person Centred : Person-Centred Counselling is non-directive therapy. I see you as the expert on yourself and working together, we can work on solutions to help you on your journey to recovery.Person-centred counselling allows you to work at your own pace, talk and be heard.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): The approach of C.B.T is looking at how you can get stuck in patterns of negative thoughts and behaviours, and offers a way of changing these. You will work on a goal or goals to facilitating positive change.
Mindfulness: Mindfulness can help you change the impact negative thoughts and feelings have on you.It is an effective way to increase calmness, to help ease anxiety and depression.
Solution focused brief therapy .As the name suggest the therapy is usually short-term. This approach treats you, the client as the expert and you will be able to set/work towards your own goals. During the session I will ask questions and may ask you to scale your self.
Working with Children and Young People
My core ethos is in the Person-Centred approach and I believe that each person experiences are unique. As well as Person Centred Therapy, I can offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Play Therapy, depending on the child's or young person's needs or goals .
