Linda Dorrington Integrative Counsellor/Coach/Hypnotherapist
"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think!" (A A Milne)
Taking that first step forward is probably the hardest...but you CAN do it!
Sometimes we don't need advice; we don't need people to try to 'fix us'. All we need is someone to really listen, not to judge us but just be there.
Few people escape from some level of anxiety, stress, trauma, broken relationships or bereavement in their lives. I provide a safe space for you to explore the past, express your thoughts and feelings and develop a greater awareness of what is going on in your life, finding your way to a more positive future.
As an Integrative Counsellor and Coach, I work with adults and young people in Brentwood and Essex. As a Counsellor, I am able to focus on deep and lasting psychological healing and change whilst also having the skills of a Coach to work in practical ways to help you develop your strengths and plan a better future. As an experienced Hypnotherapist, I can work at an even deeper level, which can help even more when used together with counselling or coaching. Over the years, I have helped clients with many issues, in particular anxiety, stress, panic attacks, depression, relationship issues, bereavement, smoking cessation to name but a few.
I am passionate about helping my clients to lead meaningful and happy lives, overcoming any barriers which hold them back, helping them make real and lasting change. I always work with my client, helping them to 'help themselves' which is a much more empowering way to work.
With a background in education, I became very aware of how the stresses of being a young person impacts on their emotional and mental well-being. And indeed how difficult it can be for teachers to cope with increasing workloads and targets. I have particular expertise working with these groups, helping them to explore where they might be ‘stuck’ in their lives, feeling anxious, stressed or depressed, experiencing a lack of meaning and direction, trapped in difficult relationships or even feeling like life is not worth living.
What to expect in your first session.
I provide a supportive confidential space for you to talk through your concerns, to develop a better understanding about yourself and to help you find your own answers. I know it is sometimes difficult taking that first step and will always try to ensure you feel listened to and supported.
We will use our first session together to explore what has bought you to therapy and how we might work together. You may know why you are here but you may also just feel 'stuck' in a job, in a relationship or feel generally anxious or unhappy. Or feeling like you don't know where you are in your life and lack meaning and purpose.
It is a good idea to have a quick chat over the phone first of all - we can discuss what is going on for you and how therapy can offer you..
I offer a free phone initial consultation session on 07502 222496.
Evening & weekend appointments available in Brentwood (some week day daytime slots too). Daytime appointments available in
I also offer online or phone sessions if you prefer although I would like to meet with you initially if possible.
