We all experience challenges throughout our lives - the different stages (childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age) bring inevitable life changes which can sometimes result in stress, anxiety, depression, relationship or work issues, phobias, bereavement, loss or lack of meaning in life, to name but a few. Talking to a therapist can help you to resolve these issues and move forward.
I work as an integrative coach/therapist and am passionate about empowering people to lead meaningful and happy lives, overcoming any barriers which hold them back, helping them make real and lasting change. The work I do combines the therapeutic work of counselling and psychotherapy with the solution focused aspects of coaching. In this way, I help clients not only deal with any past issues which are holding them back but also help them to work towards future goals.
My background in education entailed working with children, teachers and parents who were experiencing significant educational and social challenges and I became very aware of the impact on their emotional and mental well-being. I subsequently trained in coaching psychology, psychotherapy and counselling, which in turn led me to personal consultancy. This for me was the ‘missing link’, combining the best from both counselling and coaching.
My work in schools these days focuses on coaching and developing middle/senior leadership, and as I believe it is important to ‘give back’ I work as a volunteer therapist with adolescents experiencing difficulties in their lives.
In my private practice, I see clients for personal consultancy, where I use therapy and/or coaching to help clients to 'help themselves'. I believe in working with my clients, not doing ‘for’ them.
What to expect in your first session.
I provide a supportive confidential space for you to talk through your concerns, to develop a better understanding about yourself and to help you find your own answers. I know it is sometimes difficult taking that first step and will always try to ensure you feel listened to and supported.
We will use our first session together to explore what has bought you to therapy and how we might work together. You may not even know why you are here or what you feel you need, you may just feel unhappy or ‘stuck’ in some way. We can explore these uncertainties together.
It is a good idea to have a quick chat over the phone first of all - we can discuss what is going on for you and how therapy can offer you. We can then decide how to go forward from there. Please text me or call me and I will get back to you as quickly as I can.
