About me

Managing mental health can feel overwhelming as day-to-day life always seem to take priority. It can impact your relationships, wellbeing and work, sometimes leaving you feeling stuck. Together we can rebalance and reconnect with others to feel like yourself again.

I offer a warm, empathetic and open space where we can explore what might feel too heavy to carry on your own. In time, the hope is for you is to feel more understood, supported and ready to move toward a more positive future. I understand from my own experience how daunting it can be to ask for help. In a sea of kind faces and hundreds of counselling profiles, it can feel overwhelming knowing how to select the best type of therapy and therapist for you.

I like to keep things simple. I am trained in Person-Centred Therapy which means our sessions will be led by you, and the areas you want to explore. I respect and trust that you are the expert in your own life so this approach does not offer advice. Instead, I walk side-by-side to notice your patterns and work through issues together. I have witnessed time and again how truly life-changing this approach can be when working with a wide range of people.

The most important part of our work is the quality of the relationship and our connection. Research indicates that the most influential factor in successful therapy is not the techniques used, but rather the trust built between the two of us. Confidentiality, empathy and honesty are always at the heart of my work. I know it can take time to create trust and to feel comfortable in sessions, especially if this is your first time in therapy, or previous experiences did not meet your expectations. I strive to meet you exactly where you are and without judgement.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
