About me

I firmly believe that when we experience difficulty in dealing with issues in our life we find our own way of coping.  Sometimes, however, these coping strategies that we have developed to protect us can get in the way of personal progress, development and change.  Recognising you need some support and finding the right therapist can be daunting.

Counselling is aimed at helping people to develop their own solutions to problems, rather than imposing or offering solutions or expert opinions. It can also help you to understand your feelings and emotions better. I will work with you by listening, encouraging and helping you to clarify the difficulties you are facing and the options you have.

Grief and loss, anxiety and depression, abuse, work related or relationship issues are perhaps some of the concerns that may be affecting you right now.  I can help you to see your own situation more clearly so that you can make decisions about what you want to do, or how you want to do it. I will do this in a way that respects your values, personal resources and capacity for change.

I work from a person centred approach, helping my clients to explore personal difficulties in a safe, confidential space.  I aim to create an open therapeutic relationship where we can work together with clarity and honesty.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked with a variety of different people aged 14 to 90 who have a wide range of issues. I also have experience of working with people referred for counselling by their employer and in both short-term and long-term counselling.

I hold a Post graduate Diploma in Counselling. Over the years, I have attended many training courses that inform my practice, exploring different ways to support my clients in getting in touch with what they truly feel. Certain counselling styles suit some people more than others, so I draw from a range of methods to provide the right support for you.

Prior to my counselling career I worked for many years in a large organisation, as a senior administrator and as a business analyst. I am familiar with the pressures, challenges and demands that come with a highly pressured job, managing complex teams and dealing with organisational change.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
