About me

When I was made redundant from a job I loved, it was a shock and yet I realised that it gave me the opportunity to follow my dream of training to become a counsellor. It felt like a way of giving back some of the help I’d received myself during some difficult times in my life. Sometimes life can throw up challenges we aren’t expecting, or perhaps we’re just not coping with things as well as we’d like. It can make us feel overwhelmed, isolated or confused. At times like this, reaching out for support can feel quite daunting but if we can find the courage to ask for help, it could be the first step to making a real difference to our lives.

If you feel it’s time to reach out, I will offer you time, warmth and empathy to listen to you and help work through your thoughts and emotions. I won’t judge you or tell you what to do but will sit with you so that together we can explore the issues you’re finding difficult.

You can choose telephone, webcam or face-to-face sessions - whichever best suits you. If you would prefer face-to-face sessions, I’m ideally placed midway between Lincoln, Horncastle, Market Rasen and Louth, and have a warm and comfortable therapy room which is completely private. I also have toilet facilities and off road parking, so that’s two less things to worry about.

I offer free initial telephone sessions lasting up to 20 minutes, where we can chat about the kind of support you would like and whether the way I work, which is primarily person-centred, will work for you. There is no obligation for you to book a full session after our initial chat - the most important thing is for us to feel we can work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a certificate for Online and Telephone Counselling. I’m a member of the BACP and hold public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

I’ve worked within an agency supporting victims of domestic and sexual abuse, have been part of an Employee Assistance Programme and worked with a local hospice supporting patients, carers and bereaved relatives. Additionally, I’ve spent time as a listening volunteer with a national telephone helpline charity, providing support for members of the public experiencing suicidal thoughts and struggling with their mental health.

Working with clients aged 18 – 88 with varied reasons for seeking counselling support, I feel privileged to have shared in their journeys and have been rewarded by witnessing their progress.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
