About me

Hello. I am a fully insured Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I offer in-person counselling in Dorchester Town Centre and soon in Weymouth too. I also offer nationwide online counselling at a reduced rate. Research shows online counselling is just as effective as in-person counselling.

When we can share what it is difficult and when it is received with warmth, there is an opportunity for change. I offer a space of safety where you can explore how you are feeling and make sense of your struggles.

It is common these days to feel overwhelmed, disconnected and anxious. The heart of humanistic integrative counselling is about reflecting on your circumstances and your life; how you have come to be where you are now.

You might ask how reflecting can help with the difficulties you are experiencing?

Well, reflecting is the tool we use in counselling to aid in the growth of our awareness. As we reflect, our therapist helps us to begin to become aware of what is going on underneath the surface, in particular, how we are feeling about ourselves, our lives, our past and our difficulties.

Becoming aware of how we are feeling, slowly developing a deeper connection to the body and it's sensations helps us to become more present and easeful in the moment.

Over time, as the connection between body and mind is deepened, we begin to develop a clear view of ourselves and our situation and how we have come to be where we are. This process is called memory integration and it is deeply connected to having a strong sense of clarity about who we are.

When this stronger sense of who we are is present, it is easier to face the difficult aspects of ourselves. The parts that are anxious, depressed or traumatised (or whatever is bringing you to counselling). When these parts of yourself are met with acceptance, when they are heard and given what they need, there is a potential for healing.

Whatever you are currently facing, I aim to provide a space where you can feel comfortable enough to open up. My technique is very gentle and encouraging. If you don't know where to start, that's wonderful! We start in the unknown and see what comes from there.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
