Relationship Counselling

About me

Counsellor, MBACP Accred

I work both face to face and remotely on Zoom.

About
I am a Relate trained Counsellor and Supervisor with over seventeen years experience of helping people struggling with relationship issues such as loss of trust or intimacy, feeling that your relationship has become more like flat-mates than a couple, self-esteem, un-productive patterns of conflict with partners or family members and much more. Some people choose to come to therapy in order to address a specific problem that is occurring at the time. Others view it as a safe, non-judgemental space in which to gain insight and understanding to enrich an existing relationship, or to find healing and renewal after an ending.

You have the choice of doing one, a few, or more sessions.

I love the work I do, which has taken me from Dublin, Ireland, to Guernsey in the ChanneI Islands, to Birmingham, and to London. My previous occupation was as a graphic artist. I have also completed a Foundation Course in acting and continue to be interested in the arts.

I can offer couple, individual and family (group) sessions. Sometimes I may suggest alternative forms of therapy or specialist support, if that is going to be a more helpful option for you.

Availability:

Monday to Friday daytime/evening/flexible.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained with Relate and with the Institute of Family Therapy. Relate Certified counsellor, Supervisor, and accredited member of BACP.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
