About me

Seeking out a Counsellor probably isn’t on anyone’s bucket list and the prospect of asking for help or divulging your private thoughts to a stranger can feel daunting and scary.
Feeling comfortable with the right therapist is essential and it is the relationship and connection between client and therapist that facilitates respect, trust, and feeling understood, in terms of what your world and life feels like for you. My training as an Integrative Counsellor reflects the needs of the individual, integrating different approaches in a way that best suits the person I am working with.

[If you decide to contact me, I will respond to you. Please provide your telephone number so that I can advise that I have replied, in case the email goes directly into your spam.]

Life events can create much turmoil, whether from past or current relationship / experiences. A break-up in relationship, the loss of somebody close, work place stress, a lack of control can lead to a feeling of helplessness and anxiety, depression and a loss of confidence.
You may be dealing with a difficult issue alone with seemingly no way out, be tired of holding a secret or having to behave in a certain way. Alternatively you may not be feeling yourself and can’t pinpoint why, feelings of sadness, anxiety, anger or depression can be triggered and come to the surface when we least expect it.
At times like these we sometimes benefit from a different type of support apart from what friends and family can provide. Counselling can help you to get through those times. It is a unique process that helps you to develop self-awareness and supports you to discover and strengthen your inner resources, empowering you to make changes in life.

Seeking counselling does not mean you are going crazy or are weak. In fact taking this step has shown strength and initiative to recognise that you want to stop feeling the way that you do.

I am a warm and down to earth counsellor with much life experience and like you do not exist in a perfect life. No matter how strong, independent and ‘together’ we think we are we all have times in our lives that are challenging and take us off balance. My training enables me to support you to gain insight and awareness into what has caused this imbalance and supports you to become empowered in dealing with your situation and regain control of your feelings and behaviour.

I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to listen, explore and support you to work through what is distressing you. I support you to develop strategies to understand, manage perspectives and to come to a healthier and happier balance.

My website leilajackson Counselling.com (within the blog section) provides more information on how I can support you with the debilitating feelings of anxiety, depression, relationship issues and loss amongst other issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
